My newest minimal paintings are centered around the concept of water and its relationship to the surrounding land. I feel that there is a spiritual nature to the way our land interacts with water. It can be gentle and it can be abrasive. These waterscape paintings will reflect these beliefs and the subsequent exploration.
As I began to explore landscape painting I truly fell in love with the forms and shapes that our earth creates. Simple and uncomplex and yet so intricate we can hardly imagine. These works are inspired by places I have visited in my dreams and heavily focus on form and color relationship. I aim to explore the way that colors evoke emotion and mood in each painting, and hope to transport each viewer into a new place and time.
As a diversion from my landscape series these pieces are of a similar vein. They encapsulate the different lenses we use when we explore our landscape. Inspire by the concept of round windows, mirrors, and portholes and pushing the idea of staying within a predetermined box. Each painting is an expression of a more whimisical nature and shouldnt be taken too seriously.
Linear Landscape Series
Creating these paintings was one of the most exciting times in my creative career. The first piece completed felt like magic as I stepped away. These paintings are incredibly time-consuming and difficult to complete, using a technique that involves some tape as well as immeasurable patience and the use of steady hands. This series of work will be a series that I am never going to walk away from.
These paintings are a grouping of works that explore my love for colors and the way they interact with one another.
